*******************************************************************What an incredible work this is, the Septuagint (seventy, in Greek) Old Testament.
What an honor and privilege, also, that the Lord has given me this task, of putting this authoritative holy Book into Modern English.
I certainly can not take credit for this majestic translation into the English. That goes to one “Sir Lancelot C.L. Benton,” (1807-1862). His translation of the Greek into English was first published in London in 1851.
What I have done, is updated this great work to make it more readable, in today’s English.
I have in no way changed the “King James style” of Sir Lancelot’s translation, as it’s evident that the Authorized Version played a part in this great work.
Perhaps someone might ask, “Why?” Why are you doing this?
My answer is this: “What was the Apostle’s Bible like?”
Wouldn’t you want a copy of the Apostle’s Bible, if you could get one?
This great translation eliminates ALL POSSIBLE CONTROVERSY that exists today over the New Testament, and the manuscripts that were used to translate it.
If The Lord Jesus Christ quoted from the King James Bible, then the case for the King James would be irrefutable.
Ah, but the Lord has quoted from the Septuagint. Matthew chapter 4 records the Lord Jesus being tempted by the devil.
As Jesus was being tempted, He rebuked the devil with the truth: God’s holy word.
But, Jesus quotes the Greek Scriptures to him! Matthew 4:4 says, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
How can we tell? Because the Hebrew Scriptures says in that verse “The mouth of the Lord”, but the Greek Old Testament says, “The mouth of God.”
There are many, many more examples. The human author that God used to pen the Book of Hebrews didn’t even have the Hebrew Scriptures with him when he wrote that Book, for every Old Testament quotation in the Book of Hebrews is taken out of the Septuagint Old Testament.
What did the translators of the King James think about the Septuagint?
“The translation of the Seventy dissenteth from the original in many places, neither doth it come near it for perspicuity, gravity, majesty; yet which of the Apostles did condemn it? Condemn it? Nay, they used it, ... which they would not have done, nor by their example of using it, so grace and commend it to the Church, if it had been unworthy the appellation and name of the Word of God.”
Imagine that, having the same Bible that the apostles had, and used. And in Modern English, too; updated by a modern translator who believes literally in every word of almighty God. Who believes that it is sacrilege to remove or add to this Holy Book.
Who still believes that God is Masculine, that Jesus Christ is STILL Lord, who still believes in a literal hell, and who still believes that God detests, and punishes sin, to the uttermost.
And, lastly, a modern translator who believes, and teaches, that our salvation comes through the shed blood of the Son of God, Jesus Christ the Righteous, and that salvation is found in NO OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN!
